CERVEZAS DEL SUR is a brand new brewery being built in Ponce, Puerto Rico that will service the highest per-capita beer drinkers in the world with a new light beer that will hit the market in 2010. The Cost of the Brewery is $20 million.
CERVEZAS DEL SUR is a partnership between The Mane Group and Mendez & Co., Inc. Mendez has been in business since 1913 and has been Heineken’s exclusive distributor since 1949. Heineken dominates the premium beer market in Puerto Rico, largely due to the excellent distribution provided by Mendez.
Mendez has made a substantial financial investment into CERVEZAS DEL SUR and are seizing the opportunity to move into the manufacturing business to compliment their distribution and grocery divisions.
CERVEZAS DEL SUR is currently leasing a 38,000 sq. foot industrial building in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The Company recently purchased a Brewhouse from a Brewery in Tann, Germany. The Brewhouse is capable of brewing up to 100,000 hecto-liters of beer and Malta annually. The Brewhouse was dis-assembled and shipped to Puerto Rico where it is currently being placed inside the facility in Ponce along with the additional equipment (bottling lines, packaging lines, etc.) needed to create a full functioning brewery.
